Mentoring includes the initial review of the selected patients for ART according to the criteria for starting ART, preparation for treatment, patient counseling in correctional settings, basic evaluation of patients, selection of the ART regimen, monitoring of the treatment, support for the treatment. Faculty and care teams also review the side effects and regimen change, and maintaining adherence and psychosocial counseling in correctional settings. During the visit, the mentors facilitate the working group meetings of the teams to discuss lessons learned, challenges and limitations of providing ART in correctional settings. Mentors evaluate practical skills development and demonstrate problem-solving skills. |
